Chapel Point House

Residential Alterations & Extension to a Grade II Listed Building

Situated in a unique peninsula location, surrounded in nearly all directions by the rugged south Cornwall coast Chapel Point House is an example of a 20th Century listed building completed in 1935 under the supervision the late Architect, John Campbell, in the Arts and Crafts style.

The dwelling formed part of a planned development of seafront properties and was featured in a 1945 Country Life Magazine interview, images of the original model forms part of the RIBA archive.

Our initial involvement included the extension of a breakfast area and loggia, utilising a structure built partly into the rock and incorporating a green roof to limit visual impact to the main dwelling. The seafront elevation and other alterations to the property take the ‘Campbell’ Arts and Crafts based approach, ensuring the proposals sit comfortably alongside this Arts and Crafts masterpiece.

We continue to support our clients for works on the site with our sensitive design and research-based approach.
